Sword Art Online II Ep. 7: Therapy as explained by BRAZZERS

Episode 7: Crimson Memories

  • bb u dun need 2 no. its muh trauma. do not steal.
  • Funny how Asuna’s offer to help him out with GGO is shot down because Yui exists. Guess we can’t have the perfect waifu handling guns and shit.
  • There should be consequences in the relationship when your signficant other is hiding things from you, because that implies that you’re not worthy enough to even talk about it, if not work together to solve it. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S made a huge deal about not sharing your problems with your friends when they have the full capacity of helping you, and at least it had the decency to discuss how awkward it makes your friends feel when they’re not even in the loop. I feel that SAO is going to sidestep how Kiriko is treating Asuna, despite her being in the same game as him for two years and thereby would understand at least a little bit, if only her participation in killing Kuradeel.
  • THE CLOCK HAS STOPPED, MUCH LIKE THE PACING OF THIS SHOW.
  • Meanwhile, Shino is venting about Kiriko took advantage of her and then beated her at the shooted-at-each-other match-of-the-duel. That Kiriko. What a beater.
  • Why would you come to GGO to use a sword, anyway?
  • Girl.
  • gurl
  • Do you even know who they made this game for.
  • Those recent SAO: Hollow Fragment screencaps are showing Shino as part of the harem, so it feels a bit weird to interpret her strange fixation towards Kiriko as anything other than bringing another haremette to the fold. I know there are actual reasons, namely that he’s been through some retconned shit in SAO and she resonated with his brief moment of vulnerability, but those motivations are disingenuous. It’s much like having an actual story in a toy/game commercial. In the end, it only exists to sell the product. And so, Shino having a sense of camaraderie with Kiriko is only to increase her appeal as a choose-able girl, and that sentiment is reflected in Hollow Fragment.
  • Why not both? Well, I don’t see why you can’t have both, and perhaps SAO can have its cake and eat it too when it comes to its marketing ploys and its character development. But do you at least understand where I’m coming from when all this development seems kind of trite?
  • Oh, here’s another reason I find her current dynamic with Kiriko to be dumb: One day spent together is enough to completely fix her fear of gun hands.

  • Hey, it was a dumb trigger in the first place and I’m glad it’s gone. Though, I’d prefer it if it was because of something other than Kiriko’s influence and if it didn’t happen within the span of one evening.
  • Shinkawa seems more disappointed than excited that she’s finally getting over her trauma. If it’s because he wanted to be the one to cure her, thereby scoring her in the sack, that’s giving off some dangerous levels of “nice guy” vibes.
  • Quick, Shino’s getting NTR’d by the Gary Stu! Looks like we’re gonna have to spend some Friendship Points!
  • Try holding her hands without permission for 15 Friendship Points! Hm, doesn’t seem to work as intended. How about you pay 10 extra Friendship Points to describe how you prefer her in her timid, traumatized state? No?
  • By the way, they really want to save up that budget with this episode, don’t they.
  • IT JUST
  • KEEPS GOING
  • HOLY SHIT
  • All of that dialogue was framed under one shot. One.
  • She still doesn’t get it, dude. I know! How about you use 10 Friendship Points to tell her that having feelings about other people is bad? As a bonus, you get to imply that you’re the only one who can help her!
  • This isn’t really characterization anymore. This is a strawman. Is it necessary to vilify a main girl’s male friends to this extent? I suppose so if the purpose is to pitch Kiriko as a much better prospect. But even so, all you’d have to do is get the girl to prefer him over her closer friends. I just don’t understand why SAO would resort to villainizing Shinkawa with these cliche “nice guy” tropes. Did it work when they did this with Recon? Do you even remember who Recon is? Exactly.
  • A long time ago, I used to laugh and cry like a normal girl, too.” BUT THOSE HAPPY DAYS WERE SHATTERED WHEN I TOTALLY HEADSHOTTED THAT GUY WITH HIS OWN GUN UGHHHHH SO GRIMDARK AND TRAGIC
  • Let’s talk about this red balloon, shall we?
  • The red balloon in this moment signifies Shino’s ability to laugh and cry like a normal girl and the kid letting it go means that her innocence got stolen away by nature and/or her mistakes even though that’s completely not true.
  • wait what
  • I mean that Shino’s trauma is like a little kid letting go of his precious balloon because balloons float away and disappear which makes it impossible for Shino to retrieve her red balloon back which is completely not true.
  • Shit.
  • What if the red balloon is meant to be her blood-red past of bloodiness and letting go of her past will make her a lot happier in life? But for that to not be a completely obtuse metaphor it’d have to be Shino letting go of the balloon so that’s completely not true.
  • FUCK.
  • My thoughts on the red balloon’s significance in the story:

  • what does it meeeeeaaaaaannnnn
  • Well that’s not important right now because Shinkawa is gambling his remaining Friendship Points by pinning Shino to this pole with his oh-so-well-deserved hug. I can’t comprehend why he thinks this would be a good idea.
  • Shino makes the correct decision, but this is the decision that SAO wants for different reasons. We want her to push him away because he’s being selfish and insensitive with his sudden outbursts and it shows that Shino is at least prioritizing her own desires first. SAO, on the other hand, wants her to push Shinkawa away in time for Kiriko to swoop in and take her by the waist, riding off into the sunset, firing rifles into the air. This is an incredibly conflicting feeling for me when I only concur with a plot development.
  • I MEAN LOOK AT HIS FACE. HE WAS OFFENDED BY THAT. WOW.
  • Of course, if Shino were to reject him now it wouldn’t make her the great friend she’s going to be for Kiriko, so she tells him to wait for an answer. And, of course, Shinkawa interprets this to be a delayed “yes”.
  • Meanwhile at Kiriko’s house, nightmares!
  • I’ve said my piece about how unconvinced I am of Kiriko’s PTSD, so I’ll just leave it at that.
  • I see that this next scene is going to be about death by hospital bed, death by symbolic funeral lillies, and death by hot nurse. Whoops, wrong screen cap. There we go.
  • I… really don’t want to talk about how much I disagree with what’s said in this scene. So I’ll transcribe the parts that stood out to me.

Kirito: How much do you remember about the patients who died?

Nurse: If I try to remember, I can recall their names and faces.

Kirito: Have you ever wanted to forget?

Nurse: […] I think that if it’s something you’re meant to forget, you will. Without even thinking that you want to forget. The more time you think you want to forget, the stronger those memories become, right? So doesn’t that mean that deep in your subconscious, you think you really shouldn’t forget them?

Kirito: Then I’m a monster.

Kirito: I killed them anyway out of rage, hatred, and desire for revenge. And for the past year, I’d totally forgotten about them. No, even right now, as I talk about it, I can’t remember two of their names or faces. In other words, I’m a person who can even forget people I’ve killed.

Nurse: Kirigaya-kun, I’m sorry. I told you I would be your counselor, but I can’t take away your burden or carry it with you.

Nurse: In medicine, there are times where you must pick who lives and who dies.

  • Someone’s been reading too much Monster.
  • Also keep in mind that during all of the talk, this is happening:

[HorribleSubs] Sword Art Online II - 07 [720p].mkv_snapshot_15.43_[2014.08.16_23.54.34]

  • There’s a lot of things I can say about how much I had to disregard in order for this scene to make an impact on me. There’s also a lot of things I could say about how the nurse’s behavior is clearly not professional and how problematic it is for a patient to get too attached to their counselor and how counselors are not supposed to carry their patient’s burdens in the first place. I’m sure that with this scene Kiriko will no longer have too many problems with his PTSD. Because his hot nurse probably sexed him back to normal off-screen.
  • Man, think of all the hentai that might come up because of this. Admittedly not much because she’s not a loli.
  • So after all that’s over, Kiriko finally plugs back in. ARE WE FINALLY GGO?
  • FUCK NO. BACK TO GRIMDARK MCTRAGICPAST.
  • smack yourself so hard you snap your back in two. But who cares? There’s ass in this picture.
  • Anyway, this scene only exists so that we get our Kiriko quota for the day.
  • She plugged in. ARE WE GGO NOW?!?!?!?
  • FUCK NO, LET’S GO SEE HOW KIRIKO’S HAREM IS DOING
  • Poor Klein, reduced to being the harem babysitter.
  • PRAISE THE SUN, SUGUFA’S CLEAVAGE LIVES TO SEE ANOTHER DAY.
  • Tom Cruise, what are you doing. Get your ass back to the All You Need Is Kill set.
  • OH SHIT WE’RE GGO NOW.
  • FUCK YEAH
  • THIS SHOW IS SO GOOOOOOOD
  • I can believe your words earlier, right?” See, I TOLD you he’d interpret that as a delayed yes.
  • If anything, he interpreted that as an immediate yes given that he confesses so quickly.

  • Gunner’s crack.
  • Also what the fuck Spiegel she told you to fucking wait.

Addendum

  • Alright, finally got the wordcount lower than 2k words. I think I’ve got myself back on track.
